🏞️ Sourides – A Quiet Hamlet in Western Samos

📍 Location & Access

Sourides is a small settlement in the northwestern part of Samos, located at an elevation of 206 meters. It belongs administratively to the Karlovasi Municipal Unit, within the Municipality of Western Samos.

The village is accessible via local roads that connect it with surrounding villages and with Karlovasi, the main urban center of the region.

👥 Population & Historical Notes

According to the 2021 census, Sourides has 21 permanent residents. Its population has fluctuated modestly over the past decades:

1991: 11 residents
2001: 27 residents
2011: 28 residents

The settlement was officially recognized in 1920 under the name Siourrides or Patiniotes, and renamed Sourides in 1928.
