🏘️ Agios Nikolaos of Kontakaiika – A Seaside Hamlet in Samos
📍 Location
Agios Nikolaos is a coastal settlement in Samos, located north of the village of Kontakaiika, at Cape Kontaki. It lies along the provincial road Samos–Karlovasi (E62), approximately 28 km west of the island's capital.
👥 Population
According to the 2021 census, the village has 72 permanent residents.
🏖️ Attractions
The beach of "Piaki" is one of the main attractions of the settlement, offering relaxing moments by the sea and a calm atmosphere.
🏘️ Connection with Kontakaiika
Agios Nikolaos is one of the five settlements that belong to the village of Kontakaiika. The other four are Agios Dimitrios, Vryses, Agios Ilias, and Chatzistamoulides.
🗂️ Administrative Changes up to the “Kallikratis” Reform
The settlement was originally recognized and annexed to the community of Kontakaiika in 1920, but was abolished in 1940. It was reinstated in 1981 as part of the same community.
📄 In Government Gazette 244A – 04/12/1997, it was detached from the community of Kontakaiika and annexed to the Municipality of Karlovasi.
📄 In Government Gazette 87A – 07/06/2010, it was transferred from the Municipality of Karlovasi to the Municipality of Samos.
📄 In Government Gazette 43A – 07/03/2019, it was again reassigned to the Municipality of West Samos.
